Job DescriptionFlexStaff is hiring a temporary Junior Accountant for one their external clients fiscal department, to assist in the accounting department starting the week of 12/16/24 - 02/03/25. Under the direction of the Controller, the Junior Accountant assumes the primary responsibility for agency wide accounting and bookkeeping as well as assisting the Controller and the CFO in the preparation of payroll reports and financial statements (internal).DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensures bank reconciliations are completed in an accurate and timely manner. Prepare accurate, financial statements in accordance with our established schedule and with input from the rest of the fiscal department. Generates journal entries regarding P/R. Provides financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects. Provides general assistance during audits. Serves as back up for payroll specialist and assist in entering payroll information in Paychex for at least one program per payroll cycle. Includes processing and monitoring voluntary deductions and garnishment orders and other issues that impact payroll specifications. Serves as back up for entering short and long term disability claims into Paychex, and working in conjunction with HR regarding workmen's compensation and other employee related issues. Prepares, maintains, and coordinates account analyses for audit purposes. Prepares month end journal entries. Corrects errors by posting and adjusting journal entries. Maintains and updates daily/weekly/monthly reports for the CFO and Controller. Secures financial information by completing database backups; keeping information confidential. Maintains accounting controls by following policies and procedures; complying with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements. Promotes and accomplishes agency's mission by completing related results as needed.
