Business Analyst, Associate #817

Dev Technology Group is recruiting for a Junior Business Analyst to support a system that automates critical processes for both our government customer and noncitizens in the US. The candidate must be able to perform business analysis, testing, and production support. The ideal candidate can work independently and collaboratively and is interested in supporting an important government mission.
What You'll Be Doing
You will work as a member of an active Agile development team, responsible for participating in all Agile ceremonies, updating Jira tasks daily, and contributing to our continuous improvement processes. You will work together with team members and stakeholders to analyze, design, and test solutions that meet the client's needs. In support of this project and the customer's mission, you will do the following:
- Collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders to understand needs and priorities
- Create business process flow diagrams, screen mock-ups, and other UML diagrams to elicit requirement
- Document requirements and refine User Stories in Jira
- Work with other team members to propose and design solutions for customer needs
- Take notes, participate in, and lead (as needed) Agile Scrum meetings, such as Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Review/Planning, and Sprint Retrospectives
- Perform integration, functional qualification, regression, and user acceptance testing
- Provide Tier II Support and monitor system for issues
- Communicate with clients and team members to troubleshoot system issues
- Help design, document, and maintain system troubleshooting processes
- Update and enhance the issue knowledge base
- Assist with the compilation of monthly system metric reports
- Maintain and improve the organization of the Confluence collaborative site
- Perform quality assurance and review work of peers
- Identify and communicate areas for improvement in the application, customer business processes, and internal team operations
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or an Associate's degree with 2 years of related experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including technical writing skills
- Critical thinking skills – must be able to clearly define a problem or need, objectively analyze data around it, and use logical reasoning to draw well-supported conclusions/solutions
- Ability to document a process flow, working with the client to understand the business process and a developer to implement the process into an application
- Ability to assess application functionality, create test cases, perform testing of the functionality, and document test results
- Detail-oriented and capable of producing a high level of accuracy
- Strong interpersonal skills, practicing diplomacy and professionalism in all situations
- A team player who takes initiative, but can work independently as well and follow instructions as needed
- Solid organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A desire to learn new skills, including self-study if needed
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience eliciting requirements and testing web-based applications
- Experience with business process and data visualization techniques and tools
- Experience analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions
- Experience proposing and designing solutions to meet business needs
- Experience performing the major types of software testing and detailed testing methods across the different types
- Experience in an Agile Scrum environment and general knowledge of the software development lifecycle
- Experience using Jira and/or Confluence
- Experience using UML tools/techniques
- Experience leading meetings and taking detailed notes
- Experience working on a help desk or in another customer service environment
- Familiarity with Lean principles, SAFe, and Kanban or other Agile methodologies besides Scrum
