Job Description:
Parker Tide is a veteran-owned, small business in DC. We serve as a value-added partner to the government. We are currently seeking an HR Specialist to work with one of our DC clients.Title: Junior HR Specialist (Benefits/Retirement Administration Support)Period of Performance: Runs through 03/2026 with probable extension.Place of Performance: Washington, DC - Hybrid - Monday Onsite - Tuesday to Friday RemoteHours of Operation: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PMSalary: Depends on ExperienceQualifications
      • High School Graduate
      • 3 years of experience providing advice and information on employee benefits, retirement, health insurance, and life insurance.
      • 3 years of experience preparing retirement estimates via an automated retirement calculation program (ex. Fed-HR).
      • 3 years of experience calculating SCDs for retirement, leave, and Reduction in Force (RIF).
      • 3 years of experience preparing retirement packages for submission to OPM.
      • 3 years of experience putting benefits documents into Federal Personnel Payroll System (FPPS).
      • 3 years of experience entering benefits elections (health and life) into automated personnel / payroll system.
Benefits/Retirement Administration Support
      • Assist the Benefits Team with benefits, work life, and retirement programs (FEHB, FEGLI, EAP, TSP, and the Telework Program).
      • Engage the workforce and promote wellness programs.
      • Perform triage activities for incoming benefit inquiries.
      • Assist with open season, seminars, and special emphasis programs.
      • Counsel employees regarding their benefits.
      • Review and process benefit forms such as FEHB, FEGLI, TSP etc.
      • Correspond with FEHB carriers, MetLife, OPM, and TSP on behalf of the employees.
      • Request military documents from DFAS, providing employees with deposit information.
      • Correspond with payroll regarding military deposits and other benefit related items programs.
      • Provide briefings for the new hire orientation.
      • Coordinate logistics for work life, benefits, and retirement programs.
      • Maintain records in various benefits-related systems (e-Comp, FHR Navigator, FPPS, etc.)
      • Correspond with agencies to get information to compile service history for retirement purposes.
      • Ability to calculate redeposit service, FICA, and military deposits.
      • Maintain complete records of all activities and actions.
