This position performs activities associated with implementation, integration and support of computer systems in mission critical response operations environment. The Junior Network Administrator (JRNA) role operates on a shift-based schedule to ensure coverage for our 24/7 operation, which includes weekends and holidays. Candidates must demonstrate flexibility in their availability for other shifts. Training and additional tasks may be assigned or required on alternate shifts. Please note that shift schedules are subject to change as necessary to accommodate operational requirements determined by management. Day Shift Hours of Operations: Tuesday-Saturday, 0730-1600 EST Sunday-Thursday, 0730-1600 EST
- Designs and plans complex network systems for LANs, WANs, and WLANs
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
- Evaluates future needs of a statewide education network and Internet services
- Plans for upgrades or configuration changes as required
- Tracks network utilization patterns, including both bandwidth utilization as well as applications in use
- Evaluates new technologies for use in the network
- Maintains current understanding of evolving protocols, technologies, and applications
- Recommends updates or changes to the network to meet anticipated future demands
- Provides ongoing instruction in network technologies and protocols to other team members and clients
- Provides mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers
- Must be available for after-hours maintenances and will join the engineering on-call rotation
- Assists in the implementation of enterprise networks and network components.
- Monitors network performance and executes maintenance and operations plans.
- Provides ongoing maintenance and support of hardware and software network components and applications.
- Provides user and administrator training and conducts network component testing.

Required Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and/or technical certifications (CompTIA Network +, CCNA or higher certifications).
- Must have a current Top-Secret Clearance with the capability of obtaining SCI / CI-Poly if needed to meet contract requirements.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment.
- 1+ years of demonstrated performance in related network technology.
- Problem analysis and problem solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy within documentation.
- Prior experience providing technical support in a business environment.
- Experience with complex networks, network centric applications, and LAN/WAN connectivity.
- Knowledge of the following: Failover and disaster recovery of applications and services; Troubleshooting network and server connectivity problems; Windows Server 2012; Analytical tools.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of IT Service Management processes.
