The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System: Junior Tech Support Technician Job Description: To improve learning outcomes for students by servicing and maintaining technology equipment and software throughout the district. Performance Responsibilities:
- Installs, configures and upgrades operating systems and software, using standard business
- and administrative packages; may modify specific applications for use in operational
- Be assigned all tier one support tickets and escalate issues as needed. Familiar with use of online issues ticketing system and ability to timely update tickets on a regular basis.
- Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitor and
peripherals; such as printers, scanners and related hardware.
- Troubleshoots end user issues such as user access and system errors.
- Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users
assess needs and provide justification for equipment and services.
- Familiar with (or willingness to be trained) on Chromebooks and laptops including setup, operations and repair.
- Familiar with (or willingness to be trained) on setup, troubleshooting and repair of A-V equipment and other school technology items)
- Compile reports on assets and inventory controls.
- Ability to communicate with families, vendors and staff as it relates to repair status and returning of FRPS assets as needed.
- Understands and carries out oral and written directions and ability to operate independently and part of a team
- Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Subject to driving to conduct work.
- Attend professional development and trainings outside of district as needed or complete online trainings involving Google Suite and or vendor specific repair certifications.
- Performs other related duties as requested by supervisor
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of one years of college-level coursework in computer science, Information Technology (IT) or a related field preferred experience working with databases
- One year general computer installation, maintenance and repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed below.
- Bending, pushing, moving, lifting moderately heavy objects, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate tools and diagnostic equipment, bending, kneeling, and seeing to assemble computer equipment.
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.
