Position Summary:

The position requires exceptional customer service, communication skills, professionalism, and discretion. Under general supervision, the jury clerk performs clerical and customer service work while coordinating and preparing jurors for jury selection. This position is also responsible for filing, data entry of paperwork, answering questions, and maintaining the Jury Room. Work is performed under moderate supervision.

Education Requirement:

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience Requirement:

Two (2) years of clerical experience that included providing customer service in person or via telephone. Experience in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole, and probation, legal or financial services preferably.

Skillsets and Abilities:

· Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

· Exercise sound judgment within general policy guidelines.

· Work cooperatively with the public, co-workers, supervisors, personnel, grand jury members, judicial officers, and others while under pressure and/or confidential issues and situations.

· Use tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive and/or confidential issues and situations.

· Establish and maintain highly effective, customer-focused working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.

· Maintain confidentiality of Court documents and records.

· Remember and apply rules, procedures and codes and other detailed information.

· Effectively utilize software to locate information, and accurately input, update, and maintain court records.

· Review and determine the sufficiency and accuracy of jury documents; determine and document juror qualifications status.

· Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copier, scanner, fax machine, etc.

· Multitask, adjust to situations quickly, set priorities, and handle pressure in a fast- paced environment.

Functions and Responsibilities:

Assist jury managers and jury commissioners as follows:

· Operate the Court's Jury Management System (JMS), the e-Juror component of JMS, and other automated systems. Perform quality checks on data entry and make appropriate corrections.

· Obtain and update list of prospective jurors; prepare and mail schedules to jurors; responds to requests of prospective jurors to be excused or disqualified from jury service.

· Greet jurors and welcome them to the Court; check-in jurors and assist jurors with their logistical needs. Prepare and direct juries to the appropriate courtroom or jury lounge.

· Open mail following established protocols, process incoming mail, perform routine data entry, and answer numerous inquiries either in person or on the phone.

· Manage the juror qualification questionnaire process utilizing the Jury Management System (JMS). Follow statutory requirements and court policies on determining the appropriate status.

· Prepare certificates and thank you letters to jurors.

· Print out confirmation sheets and prepare group assignment, service dates and parking pass for mail out.

· Assist in jury empanelment days including preparation of the jury lounge for jury orientation.

· Answer questions in-person, over the phone, and email from jurors and assist them in completing juror qualification forms.

· Validate jury parking, write attendance forms daily and at completion of service and/or request.

· Maintain records according to court policies and procedures.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.
