APPLICANT LISTS MAY BE SCREENED MORE THAN ONCE.If we are unable to fill this position prior to January 22nd, we will take this position to the CYFD Statewide Rapid Hire event on January 23, 2024 Why does the job exist?This position will be responsible for the general maintenance and preventive maintenance of assigned buildings and will be required to maintain all physical plant systems of the facility including sewer maintenance, Plumbing, emergency power generation, basic electrical, lock-smithing, snow removal, safety inspections. Work closely with the Physical plant supervisor adjusting preventative maintenance program. How does it get done?
  • Perform a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work indoors and outdoors;
  • Conducting general maintenance and repairs to assigned building structures;
  • Assist other Physical Plant personnel with technical repairs/maintenance as needed;
  • Escorting outside contractors during projects;
  • Maintain equipment and tools;
  • Prepare work orders.
  • Maintaining client security while engaging them in work details;
  • Prepare accurate written reports;
  • Maintain confidential files;
  • Project planning and project monitoring;
  • Inventory control;
  • Safety inspections;
  • Coordinate procurement of materials, services, and resources according to State of New Mexico Law;
  • Purchasing supplies and ensure correct vendor payments are made according to CYFD Policy;
  • Assist with Emergency Management activities when needed.

  • Maintenance and troubleshooting experience;
  • Repairs of physical plant building systems experience;
  • Supervising at-risk youth;
  • Willingness to impartially work with clients of various racial, ethnic, and cultural differences and sexual orientation;
  • Occasional overtime work required.
  • Minimum QualificationAssociate's degree in psychology, guidance and counseling, penology, sociology, social work, or criminology and two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, military duty, classroom teaching or instructing in a rehabilitative environment, working in planned recreational activities or active participation in community action programs, or for Correctional Officer Specialist positions, relevant work experience as it relates to the purpose of the position. If Minimum Qualification requires a specific number of semester hours in a field (e.g. 6 semester hours in Accounting), applicants MUST have those semester hours in order to meet the minimum qualifications.
