Job DetailsLevelExperiencedJob LocationBeckley, WVPosition TypeFull TimeEducation Level4 Year DegreeJob CategoryNonprofit - Social ServicesJuvenile Victim Offender MediatorJuvenile Victim Offender MediatorOffice Location: Beckley, WVCounties Served: Fayette and Raleigh County Position SummaryThe Juvenile Victim Offender Mediator will work collaboratively with the juvenile victims and offenders in order to create a safe, controlled environment to develop a plan to address the harm caused by the crime.ResponsibilitiesThe Juvenile Victim Offender Mediator position may include the following, as well as other duties assigned:
  • Make contact with victims and offenders separately to explain the mediation process and solicit participation.
  • Arrange and facilitate mediation between victim and offender.
  • Provide a summary of the meeting and complete required documentation including monthly reports and case notes.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with personnel policies and fiscal guidelines
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution.
  • Must be knowledgeable of mediation practices and principles
  • Training, education, and experience related to the following:
    • Family facilitation, mediation, and/or conflict resolution
    • Strengths-based assessment and planning
    • Communication and ability to relate to diverse groups and manage interpersonal conflict
  • Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
Other Skills
  • Must be open and willing to work non-traditional work hours
  • Must be able to embrace working as a diverse team both effectively and respectfully with persons of any background, race, color, religion, sexual orientation, ability, national origin, or culture
  • Provide excellent internal and external customer service
  • Must possess good verbal, listening, and written communication skills
Driving and Vehicle Requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Good driving record
  • Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,00/$300,000 bodily injury liability
