Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students, and instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques.Essential Duties 1. Ensures that the four pillars of a Dominican education (prayer, study, community, preaching) are developed and promoted throughout the softball program2. Models Christian values and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators3. Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport4. Organizes, directs, and supervises individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach5. Assesses player's skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of students6. Assists with determining game strategy7. Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition8. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete's injury; communicates regularly with the athletic trainer in the rehabilitation of athletes9. Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators10. Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to students as directed by the head coach11. Participates in special activities to include Open House, Athletic Awards Night, pep rallies, 9th grade registration, etc.12. Performs support tasks such as equipment inventory, distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records13. Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities while instructing, guiding, and motivating students to be successful on and off the field14. Attends all coaches meetings, staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance15. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, & Principal or other appropriate administratorRequirementsCandidates must have a minimum of 60 completed college hours. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Must have previous coaching and/or playing experience at the high school varsity level or higher. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents, coaches, and students. Driving team bus to and from practice and games. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role routinely uses sports related activity equipment.
