  • A master's degree or higher with PA Certification in education, required.
  • PK-12 Principal Certification (75) Traditional Route preferred. PK-12 Principal Certification (72) Alternative Route considered.
  • Experience in supervision or public-school administration preferred
  • Such other alternatives to above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools and Building Principals JOB GOAL: Promote the educational well-being of each student and staff member in the district by creating and maintaining a safe, pleasant, motivational, and productive environment in which to work and learn with a concentration on district wide leadership, student affairs, student conduct, new teacher induction, and shared supervision of faculty and staff. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Oversee student attendance in each building. Work with the administrative assistant to track students with attendance issues, send attendance letters, hold SAIP meetings and participate in attendance hearings.
  • Work collaboratively with the superintendent and principals to develop an equitable teacher observational schedule with mutually agreed upon focus for analysis of observations.
  • Establish and consistently enforce guidelines for proper student conduct and maintain student discipline.
  • Provide leadership for the implementation of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) Framework K-8.
  • Coordinate and supervise the district's new teacher induction program.
  • Orient newly assigned staff members and assist in their development, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and supervise the district's Act 48 program.
  • Coordinate and supervise the district's Wellness policy and program.
  • Oversee and issue student work and parking permits.
  • Coordinate and oversee all aspects of the district online learning program.
  • Assist in the scheduling of student classes to meet both student needs and graduation pathways.
  • Assume leadership in each building, in the absence of the building principal, and be visible in the direction of the schools' extra-curricular activities by attending school sponsored and district sponsored activities, functions and athletic events as required in the Act 93 Agreement.
  • Assist the School Assessment Coordinator with PSSA and Keystone Exam testing.
  • Assist with benchmark testing and the collection/use data analysis to develop goals, plans, and processes for continuous improvement of student achievement and growth.
  • Act as a Safe2Say team member.
  • Establish and maintain favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs.
  • Manage advertising sales per district policy.
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate colleagues to resolve student and staff problems and concerns.
  • Participate in administrative meetings, liaison meetings, and such other meetings as are required and or appropriate.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with the administrative team to consistently improve emergency plans and practice emergency drills.
  • Act as Local Education Agent (LEA) for meetings as assigned by the principal.
  • Act as administrative representation in department meetings as assigned.
  • Assist in the collection of information to participate in the budgetary process in coordination with the principal, the superintendent, and the business manager.
  • Maintain communication with the administrative team.
  • Interpret and implement Board policies and administrative directives.
  • Keep abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret literature, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and administrative regulations. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals, groups of colleagues, students, and supervisors. MATHEMATIC SKILLS: Ability to calculate, problem solve and apply mathematic concepts of courses assigned to teach. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situation where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
