Job Title: Caregiver Wage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptJob Role: KEEP II Funding Source: LocalPay Grade: PR 2Department/School: Campus AssignedFunction: Educational SupportReports to: KEEP Supervisor HR Date Approved: January 2009HR Date Revised: April 2024SUMMARY:Provides nurturing care and education to young children in the Keller Early Enrichment Program (KEEP) in accordance with District and program goals. Provide routine care for infants and children in an instructional setting.The essential functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the characteristic duties and responsibilities noted herein, however, this list represents examples only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions found in this job description.Model KISD core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties effectively and efficiently for the purpose of supporting and contributing to high student achievement.Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups.Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model District expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESInstructional SupportAssist in planning, preparing materials, and implementing daily learning activities for children.Conduct age-appropriate activities for children in care including but not limited to reading to children and teaching simple painting, drawing, crafts, and songs.Observe and monitor children's play activities.Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom including organizing and storing toys, materials, and personal items belonging to children.Clean and sanitize furniture, equipment, toys, and linens.Sterilize bottles and prepare formulas. Prepare snacks, ensuring safe handling of food for children.Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.Student ManagementSupervise and ensure safety and security of children in the classroom, on outings, and to and from outside play areas.Assist children with all physical functions such as feeding, diapering, toileting, walking, and standing.Make teachers aware of special needs or problems of individual students.Observe and document developmental progress of children.SafetyFollow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.Follow District safety protocols and emergency protocols.Maintain current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certifications.OtherAttend and participate in faculty meetings and special events and serve on staff committees as required.Ensure that all interactions with students, District personnel, and parents are supportive, courteous, and respectful.Policy, Reports, and LawMaintain confidentiality.Develop and maintain systems for retrieval of information in support of all programs; compile, maintain, file, and secure all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.Pursue Professional Development activities for self and assigned staff; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives and current professional research.Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificateExperience:Experience working in an infant/childcare settingExperience in educational environment (preferred)SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Ability to read and verbally communicate with children, staff, and parentsAbility to work with groups of children in a positive mannerEffective organizational and communication skillsAbility to relate to children and adults with courtesy, respect, acceptance, compassion, and patienceAbility to work well with childrenSkill in working with a variety of students in varied situationsAbility to be self-motivated and self-directedAbility to read; understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructionsAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one situationsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NoneMENTAL/PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:Tools/Equipment Used:Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture:Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion:Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting:Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 30 pounds)Environment:Work to be completed on-site from assigned school or building; regular exposure to noise and computer monitorsNo remote workWork inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather)Frequent exposure to bodily fluidsMental Demands:Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress work; prolonged or irregular hoursINTENT AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:This description is intended to indicate the kinds of tasks and levels of work difficulty required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as declaring what the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position shall be.
