**Description**
For over a 100 years, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay has been dedicated to ending animal homelessness and providing care and comfort for companion animals in need. Were currently seeking a full time kennel attendant for our new state of the art shelter which that opened September 2020! The functions of this role include, but are not limited to, providing the care and basic needs of all animals in the shelter. This includes; cleaning of cages and runs in kennel areas and the proper feeding and care of all shelter animals.
* Follows Shelter Veterinarian and Vet technicians specific instructions in giving, feeding specific diets or following special sanitary procedures.
* Performs recurring assignments independently and refers deviations or unfamiliar situations to the supervisor.
* Observes animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease, and discontent.
* Handles animals as required and restrain animals.
* Walks dogs several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination of bowels and bladder.
* Provides tender loving care to the shelter animals.
* Reports signs of illness, disease, injury, or unusual activity to vet technicians/veterinarians.
* Applies knowledge of normal food and liquid requirements of animals. As required, provides special food and liquids.
* Cleans, disinfects, and maintains kennels, cages, runs, and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent.
* Performs general cleaning in other areas of the shelter to control the spread of disease.
* Washes and sterilizes water and food bowls.
* Launders and dries towels and blankets.
* Performs other related duties as assigned by Kennel Supervisor.
High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED)
* **Schedule involves working weekends**
* **$12.00 an hour/ full-time position**
