Kennel Attendant Sullivan Family Pet Hospital (Johnston, Iowa) Since Dr. Allison Sullivan opened the hospital in February of 1992, Sullivan Family Pet Hospital has been dedicated to providing quality veterinary services to clients and their pets. Our doctors and staff are experienced and compassionate people with a passion for caring for animals. We are looking for someone passionate and reliable to join our team as a Kennel Attendant. Position: The Kennel Attendant position is a key role for our hospital that provides daily care for our boarded animals and assists with hospital maintenance. The position involves bathing, exercising, and feeding our boarded patients. The Attendant is also responsible for cleaning cages, administering medication, and monitoring the behavior of our boarded patients. The role interacts with the clinical team, clients, and supports our customer focused environment. For any kennel attendant who shows reliability and a desire to learn more about animal care, we are happy to provide continuing education and cross-training into the Veterinary Assistant role. Job Responsibilities:
  • Daily care for boarded animals
  • Bathing, exercising, feeding, administering medication, and monitoring behavior
  • Assist with hospital maintenance and cleaning
  • Reporting changes in animal behavior, health or concerns to Veterinarian or Hospital Manager
  • Maintaining animal records, such as weight, physical condition, treatments received, medications given, and food intake and other potential data as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Veterinarian/Hospital Manager
  • Washing, drying, and folding laundry
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs or more, stoop, bend and stand on feet for long periods.
  • Weekend availability required
Skills / Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with animals is preferred
  • Reliability is key, as the boarded animals depend on the kennel attendant for food and bathroom breaks
  • Positive customer service attitude
  • Organizational skills
  • Enjoys working as part of team
