Overview The Kennel Technician provides animal care services to the citizens of Corpus Christi.
Responsibilities Removes waste, cleans, and sanitizes each kennel in the facility every morning Assures water is always available and feeds animals daily at designated times Practices proper animal handling, housing and care established by standards of shelter medicine Assists with euthanizing animals if needed due to health, behavior, or other reasons established by management Direct contact with citizens who are reclaiming animals, adopting, purchasing registration, or gathering education information Ability to understand local ordinances in place for length of stay on animals Provides lawn care for the entire shelter to include grass cutting, edging, clearing of debris, landscaping, pulling weeds, applying fertilizer, and insecticide Provides information on spay/neuter, proper vaccinations, proper animal care, housing requirements, food specifications, and future health needs Actively socializes with sheltered animals in open play areas Performs other related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work Non-Exempt - Full-Time Rotating 40-hour work week, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm or 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma / GED No prior experience required
Licenses and Certifications Required A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire Euthanasia Certification (DSHS) (Within one (1) year of hire) Vaccination Certification (in house training) Microchip Certification (in house training) Defensive Driving Certification (City training)

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
