SCOPE AND PURPOSE OF POSITION: Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of employee and volunteer bell ringers ensuring ample staff to meet location needs; prepares and maintains records, reports, and equipment; secure and manage kettle site locations. Provides assistance and support where needed with Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Family programs including, but not limited to: picking up toys, recruiting volunteers, overseeing gift preparation, and administrative support for gift tags.

Maintain Records & Equipment: Maintain appropriate filing system for all kettle and angel tree/adopt-a-family information. Complete an inventory and prepare kettle equipment by ensuring all equipment is retrieved from storage, cleaned, and repaired as necessary. Retrieve all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations post-campaign and prepare an inventory. Assist count team with counting of kettle money and preparation of deposits. This will include correctly marking bags, making copies of checks, taking money to bank for deposit, and recoding it in our Red Kettle computer system Prepare and maintain up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information. Track fuel levels and mileage logs for all van usage. Ensure the secure delivery and pick-up of kettles to and from sites daily. Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of stands, signs, bells, and aprons Prepare reports regarding the status of the kettle, angel tree, and adopt-a-family programs

Recruitment & Management of Kettle Campaign Employees/Volunteers: Interview, recruit, screen, and select bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively. Coordinate and oversee the activities of Kettle Campaign volunteers. Assist and support the activities of the Angel Tree and Adopt-A-Family programs. Ensure that all Kettle Campaign employees and volunteers are aware of the location, days, times, dress code standards, and other pertinent information. Prepare kettle schedules daily and assign workers in such a manner as to maximize net income. Respond to all emergency absences and/or scheduling breakdowns, by scheduling another worker and informing designated supervisor if unable to fill that spot. Process and submit weekly payroll report for bell ringers and maintain timecard records Process and submit weekly volunteer hours report. Coordinate transportation/drivers as required. Provide direct training and supervision of all bell ringers and drivers and discipline employees as required. Monitor bell ringers by making unannounced visits to kettle sites. Prepare plaques and certificates of recognition.

Community Outreach: Keep communication dialog with local churches, schools, and service clubs. Contact local store managers to secure approval of a kettle stand at the store. Handle all problems with assigned locations. Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites.

Qualifications:

Must have a valid drivers license and be willing to drive a 12 passenger cargo/transport van. Strong organization and communication skills are required. Great attention to detail. Be able to meet deadlines. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced work environment while demonstrating a positive attitude. Must be able to read, write and communicate well in English. Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful. High School or G.E.D. and one year experience working with kettle fundraising programs preferred. Knowledge and experience with volunteer recruitment methods and practices. Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision. Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers and staff. Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers and staff. Ability to maintain volunteer and financial database. Experience with general office equipment and Microsoft Office applications. Respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.
