Qualifications:
  • High school graduate with additional training preferred.
  • Positive attitude and enjoyment working with people.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in the use of word processing (a minimum of 60 words per minute), database, spreadsheet and presentation software
  • Willingness to stay current in the administrative assistant field particularly in technology.
Responsibilities:
  • Act as receptionist, welcoming and assisting visitors to the school.
  • Responsible for typing staff bulletins, reports, building correspondence, field trip permission slips, teacher schedules, programs, flyers and any other items requested by the building principal.
  • Be familiar with and carry out the school policies as directed by the school board, superintendent and principal.
  • Enhance public relations for the district. The administrative assistant, in many cases, is the only contact with parents between school and home. Must be conscious of the impressions left in her contacts, and act in the best interest of the school.
  • Answer the phone promptly, pleasantly and efficiently. Take accurate messages, and deliver as soon as possible.
  • Produce accurate correspondence, reports and any other requests as directed by the principal.
  • Record and prepare semi-monthly payroll recap to the Payroll Department on pre-determined dates.
  • Submit and complete accurate employee and substitute time sheets, absence sheets and information pertinent to new employees with semi-monthly recaps.
  • Entrance and Withdrawals: work with parents/students/teachers/specialists on all students entering or withdrawing from school.
  • Work with teachers to provide information and fulfill request.
  • Maintain proper records and an efficient filing system concerning all pupils of the school, school reports, correspondence, purchase orders, invoices and other pertinent information.
  • Perform all necessary duties related to district safety and security procedures
  • Perform other duties and tasks as directed by the principal.
