Chief Purpose of this position: Assistant/Associate Professor; tenure-eligible in the Dept. of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.
Position Responsibilities: Competitive candidates should have a research agenda that complements and leverages our Department's current research efforts related to integrative health equity, highlighted by a specific focus on geographical disparities, racial and/or ethnic disparities, or LGBTQIA disparities. Efforts should focus on prevention or screening research (e.g., cardiovascular, cancer, mental health) that considers the social drivers of health. Furthermore, the new hire will be expected to facilitate the translation of their research outcomes into modalities of care that enhance population health and well-being in the Commonwealth, the region, the nation, and globally. There are numerous opportunities for collaboration both within the Department and across the College of Humanities and Sciences and the University. The VCU Health Systems provide outstanding access to clinical populations across the lifespan. Teaching responsibilities include courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level in the areas of Healthcare Delivery/Management/Policy and Health Disparities in the U.S., along with providing support to the program's core curriculum. Successful candidates will be expected to meet service expectations of the department, school, university, community and profession.
Required Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Kinesiology or Health Sciences, or similar field of study. Teaching experience as a primary instructor in higher education. In addition, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated excellence, originality and productivity in research. The faculty member will be required to have an established research agenda, a clear potential for external funding, and potential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the department. The faculty member must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum two years' experience of Postdoctoral training or as a researchfaculty member (Assistant/Associate Professor). Experience mentoring graduate students in a research setting.
