Position Summary:The Kids Cafe Attendant will provide nutritional services on a daily basis to youth and teens enrolled in the Club. The Kitchen Coordinator will serve as the direct supervisor for Kitchen services for members. In our Club there are areas that you as a potential staff person need to make sure we are developing. These areas are: Good Character and Citizenship, Academic Success, and Healthy Lifestyles.Responsibilities:
- Communicate regularly with our partners to ensure timely meal service
- Effectively communicate any meal service concerns in a timely manner
- Ensure food is in the proper storage space
- Ability to effectively coordinate and mange our partnership with the Chicago Food Depository
- Keep up to date with the products expiration dates
- Make sure food is properly stored
- Make sure kitchen is clean at all times
- Keep count and manage inventory pertaining to kid's cafe
- Manage all documentation and reporting that pertains to kid's cafe
- Responsible for cooking, and providing nutritional and well balance meals for club members at kid's caf
- Able to serve meals to club members during kid's cafe
- Assures members are provided healthy and nutritional meals during kid's cafe
- Direct supervision of club members in the cafeteria during kid's cafe
- Assures kid's cafe are left cleaned and organized at the end of the day
- Other possible responsibilities pertaining to the club include, but are not limited to:
- Data entry
- Staff supervision
- Chaperone for field trips
Scope of Authority:The Kitchen Coordinator's direct supervisor is the Club Services CoordinatorRequirementsKnowledge:
- Must be computer literate and able to navigate and manage online portal
- Must have or be able to obtain all City of Chicago required licenses to operate a kitchen within 1 month of starting.
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles related to kid's caf
- Ability to plan effectively
- Group leadership skills
- Understanding of the population of youth served
- Demonstrate knowledge of managing and updating inventory pertaining to kid's cafe
Education:Employees need to be 18 or older and be enrolled in college or have some college courses.Experience:Must have previously worked as a kitchen staff member or manager providing meals for youth membersSkills Needed:
- Ability to coordinate and manage kitchen facility in a timely, safe and orderly fashion
- Decision Making, the kitchen coordinator will identify any potential/present/future problems and resolve them in compliance with the Club One policy and procedure handbook. If the problem cannot be fixed the kitchen coordinator will contact the Director of Club Services and Assistant Club Director and a solution will be reached jointly.
- Leadership-Be a Role Model for Co-Workers, Volunteers and especially members.
- Enhance and encourage the members to strive to meet their goals.
- Personal Initiative to work and to achieve higher levels of responsibility to better serve the youth in all programs.
- Promote a Safe, and healthy environment. Making sure that the members know the safety rules of the Kids Cafe are understood and met.

Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Be enrolled in college or have some college credits
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test
- Must attend all staff meetings.
- Responsible for all kids caf activities from beginning to end
- Be able to maintain high level of energy.
- Be adaptable and be flexible to change.
- Assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
