DescriptionKid's Corner Staff will supervise children ages 6 weeks through 9 years, while their parents are using the YMCA facility. Staff will implement developmentally appropriate activities ensuring the children's safety. Staff will work with other staff team members to ensure a safe, enriching and healthy environment.Although not required, uploading a Resume is highly recommended.Hours needed:
M-F Mornings - 7:45-11:30amM-Th Evenings - 3:45-7:30pmSaturday mornings - 7:30-11:30amOccasional Saturday Evenings 4:15-7:30pmPrinciple Activities:
- Assist with the day to day operations of Kid's Corner meeting all applicable YMCA policies and procedures.
- Oversee large groups of multi age children.
- Assisting in implementing activities, experiences and routines.
- Provide careful, attentive supervision and be alert at all times.
- Assume responsibility for the safety of the children at all times.
- Keep all children in eye sight at all times.
- Help maintain appropriate number of staff to children at all times.
- Uphold the association's child protection policies, child abuse and neglect guidelines and proper reporting procedures.
- Manage the program's resources responsibly.
- Uphold the YMCA principles of character development, customer services and programs that build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships and open communication with other staff, parents and children.
- Meet the individual needs of all children including but not limited to changing diapers/bathroom assistance, assisting with snacks/bottles, providing emotional support and playing/interacting with children.
- Facilitates the development of self-control in children through the use of positive guidance techniques. Expectations match and respect children's developing capabilities.
- Know and follow all YMCA policies and emergency procedures.
- Attend all staff meetings and training as required by the YMCA.
- Ensure the daily cleaning and maintenance of the space/facility.
- Participate in association events as assigned.
- Assume any other duties as directed by your supervisor and the YMCA administration.
Essential Functions:
- Be able to visually supervise children.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in such a way as to be easily understood by children, staff, and parents.
- Be able to move freely and quickly through the building and outside.
- Be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Remain alert while on duty.
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel, sit on floor with children.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
- Be able to lift 50 pounds at least 3 feet off the ground.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
- Have the ability to work well with children in cooperation with other staff.
- Must be capable of building friendly, positive relationships with children and adults.
- Have strong interpersonal skills.
- Have strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to act on own initiative following YMCA policies and procedures.
- Consistently demonstrate the YMCA Character Development values.
- Ability to perform principle activities and essential functions as listed.
