James Beard Foundation The James Beard Foundation PLATFORM is a mission-centered showcase kitchen, event, dining, and culinary demonstration space, as well as a vendor kiosk featuring visiting guest chefs. PLATFORM, which includes event space for up to 80 guests, is situated within the new Pier 57 Food Hall, home to 17 additional culinary kiosk vendors serving as an incubator for local small businesses and food entrepreneurs aligned with the Foundation's mission of championing a standard of good food anchored in talent, equity, and sustainability.   • The individual should be punctual, presentable, and with a strong work ethic, always conducting themselves in a professional manner, and working in a hygienic, clean manner
  • 1-2 years of hospitality industry cashier role experience
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills to JBF standards
  • Participate in routine cleaning, maintenance, and operations
  • Educate members, staff, and non-members on our food and drink selections
  • Maximize sales by practicing up-selling and add-on sales
  • Restock and merchandise as directed by management
  • Knowledge of POS systems
  • Knowledge of protocols for cash handling
  • Ability to follow the Department of Health standards and guidelines
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all FOH and Kiosk areas throughout the shift
  • Proven kitchen experience.
  • Keeping the kitchen clean and orderly
  • Knowledge of specific cooking processes such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, boiling water, and preheating pans, and ovens.
  • Knowledge of protocols for dish cleaning and sanitation
  • Seasoning and preparation of food as directed by Sous/ Exec. Chef
  • Preparing dishes such as salads, and sandwiches, and rotating seasonal dishes as directed by the chef
  • Acting as an aide to Sous/ Executive Chef
  • Ensure food is properly stored and handled safely for consumption.
  • Be able to work in a team environment and take direction.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members.
  • Respect for fellow employees, including management and vendors.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand, reach, and bend throughout the shift.
  • Responsible, dependable, and punctual.
  • Weekend days required
