We serve approximately 715 students across three schools, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment for all. POSITION DESCRIPTION The Kitchen Cook assists in all aspects of the food service operations in a single school kitchen. This role is crucial in ensuring that nutritious, appetizing, and safe meals are provided to students and staff. The Kitchen Cook will be responsible for preparing food, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and working closely with the Food Service Manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Participate in ongoing training on food safety and operational procedures
- Ensure meals are prepared in accordance with standardized recipes and portion sizes
- Assist in special dietary needs and accommodate food allergies or preferences
- Assist in inventory control, including ordering, receiving and storing food and supplies
- Ensure all food safety and sanitation standards are met, including proper storage, handling, and preparation of food
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Ability to identify a reimbursable meal
- Ability to work on POS
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in food service preferred, preferably in a school or institutional setting
- Serve Safe certified preferred or willing to take the course
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Proficiency in using kitchen equipment and technology
- Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents
- Must pass background checks and health screening as required by the law
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and occasional evenings and weekends
- Willing to take additional classes in school nutrition offered by SNAM
- Creativity and a collaborative spirit
