Position Summary:To assist with kitchen, dining room, and housekeeping operations and provide camp food service in accordance to all applicable State of Michigan Camp Licensing Rules, and/or St. Clair Department of Environmental Health Codes. Key Responsibilities:
- To incorporate opportunities for teaching courage, confidence, and character during daily interaction with campers and staff.
- Assist in preparing meals as directed by the Kitchen Supervisor.
- Ensure the ample provisions are supplied for guests as directed.
- Follow the direction of the Kitchen Supervisor in preparing food, stocking incoming orders and maintaining health codes as related to kitchen, dining hall and stock room cleanliness.
- Before, during and after every meal
- Assist in meal preparation as directed.
- Set up carts for tables.
- Keep supply of milk, water and/or juice available to patrons in the dining hall for meals.
- Supervise the hoppers in setting tables before each meal.
- Assist in dishing up food.
- Put away left -over food. Label and date all containers and leftovers using correct date marking procedures.
- Wipe off counters.
- Wash, sanitize and put away dishes, pots, pans, silverware.
- Clean all sinks.
- Sweep floors.
- Empty trash after every meal and at the end of the day.
- Wipe down all refrigerators and coolers.
- Sweep and mop pack-out, dish room, kitchen, food storage and walk-in refrigerator floors.
- Clean kitchen bathroom.
- Keep pack-out area and food storage areas clean - wipe pack-out counters, wash pack-out equipment as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Clean stove and ovens.
- Wipe off and straighten food cans and storage shelves.
- Straighten drawers and cupboards.
- Polish stainless steel fixtures.
- Wash trash cans inside and out.
- Wash dish room mats and hang out to dry.
- Wash kitchen laundry.
- Be available to check in/put away food deliveries and organize the food storage areas as needed.
- Check and refill salt and pepper shakers and salad bar containers as necessary.
- To carry out other duties as delegated by the Head Cook or Food Service Supervisor.
Position Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Experience in organized professional food service is preferred.
- Online safe food handler's certification required or willing to obtain through our training.
- Hold the minimum certification requirements of CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain through our training.
- Be tactful and respectful with campers, staff, parents, and volunteers at all times.
- Demonstrate good judgment.
- Demonstrate sound professional ethics.
- Be flexible and willing to learn.
- Be able to evaluate staff skills and talents and provide opportunities for growth and development.
- Good judgment in anticipating and preventing accidents.
- Be able to act calmly, quickly, and give and/or follow directions during an emergency.
- Knowledge of safety practices as applicable.
Essential Requirements:
- Become a registered member of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
- Hold the minimum certification requirements of CPR and First Aid and safe food handler's certification (provided through staff training).
- The Camp Director and Kitchen Supervisor shall provide access to all applicable State Licensing Rules, and GSUSA guidelines and assist in interpretation of each.

Physical Demands: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently Work Conditions: Work may take place both inside and outside.
