MBM Hospitality is a busy catering company located in Torrance, Ca offering full-service catering for special events, weddings, corporate events all over Los Angeles and Orange County. We are looking for an experienced and ambitious General Helper, Kitchen Associate/Dishwasher ready to grow with our company at our Headquarters! The ideal candidate is passionate about food & hospitality, has a keen eye to details, would excel in a fast-paced environment, punctual, work well on a team, positive attitude, possess a high sense of urgency, and able to multitask while working under pressure. The General Helper, Kitchen Associate/Dishwasher will be responsible for the upkeeping of dirty dishes & equipment and maintaining the cleanliness of our Headquarters. Duties will include but not limited to: supporting Kitchen Staff with washing dishes & equipment in a timely manner, ensuring all dishes and equipment are properly stored, daily trash runs, laundry, sweeping & mopping and housekeeping/custodial duties required to ensure the building is safe and clean. Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record as this role requires driving company vehicles for grocery shopping and specialty food pick up/drops offs. Please do not apply if you do not have a valid driver's license. Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Washing dishes for kitchen staff and appropriately storing all cooking appliances, instruments, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes
- Washing event equipment such as bins, hotel pans, off site kitchen tools
- Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment and follow proper safety and sanitation procedures
- Properly cleaning and sanitizing all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene
- Sweeping and mopping the kitchen floors as needed, as well as wiping down kitchen walls, including offices and restrooms
- Organizing kitchen and correctly storing food supplies
- Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, etc.
- Collect trash throughout the facility and transport to proper location
- Clean, sanitize restrooms and make sure restrooms are properly stocked with soap, toilet paper, and paper towels
- Sorting, washing, drying, and folding linens, towels and other textile items
- Assisting Kitchen Staff and Operations Department with hand shopping food items, when needed
- Ensure standard practices for maintaining the highest level of proficiency, safety, and outstanding customer service
- Must be familiar with food items and the surrounding grocery stores
- Work alongside Kitchen, Equipment, & Operations Department and take on additional task as needed
Kitchen Associate Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Proven experience assisting in kitchens
- Knowledge of food health and safety regulations
- Takes initiative and can work independently
- Efficient, effective, and passionate about cleanliness
- The ability to stand for extended periods
- The ability to carry and lift up to 50lbs
- The ability to work in a fast-paced & team environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Effective communication skills
- Must live within close proximity to our new facility on 190th in Torrance, CA
