DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The primary responsibility of this position is to perform all cleaning activities in the kitchen and buffet areas of the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Executes numerous cleaning and deep cleaning activities to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the kitchen. Cleaning activities include: sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, wall, ceiling and vent washing and detailing. 2. Is responsible for all deep cleaning of equipment a systems including floor cleaning machines, grease filter machines and compressors. 3. Maintains a clean and sanitary work environment in the kitchen and buffet table area including cleaning and polishing stainless steel and glass fixtures, alignment of buffet and mat cleaning. 4. Is responsible for ensuring that holding ovens, coolers, freezers, dry storage, buffet tables, dessert displays, carts, dish equipment and dish cleaning areas are maintained in an orderly, clean and sanitized manner. 5. Is responsible for preventive maintenance of kitchen equipment and notifies supervisor or manager of necessary repairs. 6. Ensures that the kitchen and buffet floors are clean and free of debris or spills. 7. Empties garbage cans as needed and conforms to established recycling procedures. 8. Notifies supervisor or manager of situations that may affect guests, associates or the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Infrequent contact with other associates. External: None SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Performs position responsibilities under the direct supervision of the Kitchen Supervisor or the Kitchen Manager checking with supervisor frequently for directions or questions. EDUCATION: A high school education or equivalent is preferred. EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six months experience in a kitchen environment with custodian experience is preferred. SKILLS: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and prioritization, skills. Must have basic knowledge related to the use of cleaning agents and appropriate usage. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 1. Work Conditions: The majority of responsibilities are performed within the kitchen with exposure to differentials in temperature. 2. Exposure to Hazards: May be exposed to situations where hazardous chemicals, sharp implements, spills, wet floors or guest behaviors may create undesirable conditions. 3. Physical Requirements: Continual walking, bending, standing and lifting is required. OTHER: Must attend all mandatory meetings and participate in departmental training and development sessions.
