Title: High School Kitchen HelperReports to: Kitchen Manager and/or Production LeadGeneral Summary: Assists with the preparation, serving, and cleanup of food for students.Essential Functions:
- Performs assigned duties associated with the preparation of meals. Cooks and bakes food, prepares individual portions, and performs other food preparation duties as assigned.(45%)
- Cleans equipment used, including utensils, dishes, mixers, and machines. Performs general cleaning duties in the kitchen. (25%)
- Performs miscellaneous food service duties as assigned, including acting as a cashier for lunch (secondary only), putting machines together, counting money, ordering and putting away supplies, and securing food in containers for shipment to other school kitchens. (20%)
- Serves prepared food to students. (10%)
- Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
- Able to interact with students, building staff, kitchen staff and supervisors in a positive manner.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.Experience in high-volume food preparation and serving is desired. School kitchen experience is preferred.Required upon hire to take Food Handlers Class within 30 days of employment.Other requirements:- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, students, and others.
- Ability and willingness to follow work instructions in all areas of foodservice and maintain a positive attitude toward the foodservice program.
- Ability to report to work on time and notify manager at the earliest possible time when unable to work.
