Job Type Full-timeDescriptionSummaryWorking under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator, the Kitchen Porter of HOPE, Inc. provides operations support to the site, including but not limited to preparing and cooking meals for members, transportation of member and goods, site operations support, and basic maintenance.Essential Duties
  • Cooks hot breakfast and lunch for 55 or more members each day
  • Plans meals to be prepared on a weekly basis to send out to members and staff
  • Keeps kitchen maintained, clean and organized
  • Works with Site Coordinator to order any supplies, and schedule regular maintenance needed for kitchen appliances
  • Holds Kitchen Manager Certification (Serve Safe) within 30 days of hire
  • Teach cooking and nutrition skills to members as needed or appropriate
  • Works with other teams and departments to provide food boxes as donations are available
  • Manages a monthly budget for supplies and food
  • Provides support to the Site Director with operations and functions including cooking for members, backup front desk coverage, janitorial services, transporting members, and other support functions as needed.
  • Provides excellent customer service to members and staff.
  • Provides transportation to members to appointments, site services, crisis services, etc.
  • Completes documentation including billing for transportation and other peer support services.
  • Coordinates with facilities to reserve vehicles and coordinate use.
  • Ensures vehicles are maintained and routinely checked for safety.
  • Ensures HOPE facilities including restrooms are safe and clean to use by maintaining appropriate sanitation and health standards in accordance with the local health department.
  • Maintains high standards of health and cleanliness consistent with a healthcare facility that serves vulnerable adults. Follows proper precautions related to blood borne pathogens and maintains training compliance.
  • Follows the health requirements per the agency and governmental regulations.
  • Uses HOPE fleet vehicle to pick up supplies, items from the Community Food Bank, wholesale food stores, and more.
  • Greets program participants and visitors at time of arrival and departure.
  • Works with other teams and departments to provide food boxes as donations are available on location and center specific protocols.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to cultural competency by interacting effectively and comfortably with people from different cultures and developing communication skills to interact sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Promotes HOPE, Inc. as the premier peer support organization to the behavioral health community and prospective funding sources.
  • Represents HOPE, Inc. in its vendor relationships with government agencies, the media, community organizations, suppliers, competitors, professional organizations and similar groups as set forth by the CEO.
  • Maintains all certifications required for the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • (Required) Peer - Individuals must have first- hand knowledge of a behavioral health condition or substance abuse issue, whether they received treatment or medication or identify as a family member of someone in recovery.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age per licensing requirements.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills in order to maintain compliance with required online trainings and documentation.
  • Current CPR and 1st Aid certification preferred within first 90 days of employment.
  • Negative TB test results within the last year.
  • Must have a driver's license with a clean MVR for the last 39 months.
  • Must be comfortable working in a behavioral health setting and able to comply with laws related to confidentiality and handling of protected health information (PHI).
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds.
