SCHEDULE - 1ST SHIFT - 7A-3PKMA./CMA FT Certified Medication Aide (TN)Primary Purpose: This position is part of the Morning Pointe Clinical Team, a resident-focused, high performance, high commitment work team that supports the Morning Pointe purpose of partnering with families in meeting the challenges of life . As a care partner, the Medication Aide is responsible for administering medications as prescribed by the resident's physician. The Med Aide is responsible for ensuring that quality services are a way of life at Morning Pointe where every associate's interaction with residents and family members reflects the philosophy and mission of Morning Pointe.Qualifications/Skills Needed: The successful candidate must hold a High School Diploma or GED and be a licensed C.N.A.- Upon successful completion of the medication aide course the candidate must have certification of passing the medication aide competency exam for the State of Tennessee. Experience in senior resident services, health care, or customer service is preferred. Strong verbal and written communications skills are essential. Also prefer that the candidate have experience in working with older adults and knowledge of the aging process. A flexible work schedule is also a necessity.Duties include, but are not limited to:Medication Aide Duties:
Administers prescribed medications to residents and maintains related medical records under supervision of a licensed nurse or the DON: Verifies identity of resident receiving medication and records name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records. If a resident requests a PRN medication the medication aide cannot administer the medication until the nurse performs an assessment and authorizes the administration. Once the medication is administered the nurse would need to reassess and document effectiveness. The medication aide cannot do any type of injections or treatments that require assessment. Presents medication to resident and observes ingestion or other application, or administers medication, using specified procedures. Takes vital signs or observes resident to detect response to specified types of medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnel of unexpected reactions. Documents reasons prescribed drugs are not administered. May receive supply of ordered medications for administration to resident. May record and restock medication inventories. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized medication cart and medication room. Communicate with families, residents, and the interdisciplinary team when appropriate. Complete shift reports and documentation in records per company policy.Physical Demands:This position is classified as HEAVY, requiring exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift/move objects. Functional requirements include constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, bending, turning, and stretching. Finger and hand dexterity is required. Visual and hearing acuity is essential. The ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions is necessary, and the ability to perform basic mathematical computations is required.#RUSS
