Job Summary:
Theobjectiveof the3-KnifeOperator is to safely set up, change over and trim the three sides on all booksrunning through the binder. The 3-Knife Operator works closely with the Binder Operator.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Read and understand work orderverifying correctbind type,bulk, trim size, marginsand run lengths.
- Learn to interpret the information on the work order and its contents.
- Follow daily running order provided by Scheduling Team.
- Communicate with Supervisor and SchedulingTeam as needed.
- Set up machine and perform qualitycutting that meets expectations.
- Maintain highthroughputby performing quick and efficient make-readiesandjobchangeovers.
- Inspect forquality defectsensuringquality standards are achieved.
- Maintainaccuratedata collections.
- Understandsubstrates, bulk,sigsize, trim size, and specified margins.
- Overseeall segments of3-Knifeoperation.
- Provide trainingto Bindery Assistantsin machine operation and safety;ensureBindery Assistantsperformsdutiesas necessary.
- Be sure allwasteisdisposed of properly.
- Perform preventative maintenance, general cleaning and upkeep of machine and auxiliary equipment.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to machine and auxiliary equipment.
- Assistmaintenance personnel with machine repair.
- Exercise initiative, ask questions and look for ways of improvingproductivity.
