We are seeking a talented and creative Knitwear Designer to join our design team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for knitwear and a strong understanding knitting techniques, yarns and stiches , trends, and garment construction. You will be responsible for conceptualizing and creating innovative knitwear collections that align with our brand's vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Create original knitwear designs based on mood boards and direction from the design director for seasonal collections.
- Trend Research: Stay updated on market trends, competitor offerings, and emerging styles to inform design choices.
- Technical Specifications: Prepare detailed technical sketches and specifications for samples, including stitch techniques, color palettes, and yarn choices. Build tech packs and communicate with our knitwear vendors
- Collaboration: Work closely with the product development team to ensure designs are feasible for production and meet quality standards.
- Prototyping: Oversee the sampling process, providing guidance and feedback to manufacturers to ensure design integrity.
- Presentation: Present design concepts and collections to stakeholders, incorporating feedback into future designs.
- Quality Control: Ensure that finished products meet aesthetic and functional requirements, participating in fittings and final assessments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in knitwear design, preferably within a luxury or contemporary fashion brand or retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of knitting techniques, fabrics, and production processes.
- Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Excellent sketching and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A portfolio showcasing your knitwear designs is required.
