Lab and Clinical Coordinator
Salary:$60,000.00
Position Purpose
The Lab and Clinical Coordinator of Nursing Programs is responsible for establishing and
maintaining clinical placements, supervise clinical faculty and the clinical facilities activities,
and ensuring compliance with facility requirements. The Clinical coordinating
responsibilities include; managing student services for enrolled students including advising
and monitoring the progression of students; interviewing and counselling students
regarding services such as registration, wait list, clinical rotations and requirements, with
application of program policy based on evaluation and program outcomes; and ensure
clinical placement and progression are applied based on program outcomes for nursing
degree programs, OBN requirements, and interpret program policy to students.
Additionally, the coordinator will assist allied health program managers and coordinators
with clinical placements, including related responsibilities as listed above.
The Nursing Laboratory Coordinator responsibilities include the following: coordinating and
maintaining all nursing skills labs, including inventory management, and assisting students
and faculty as needed to improve student assessment skills and performance of clinical
nursing skills; scheduling and covering open labs.
II. Duties and Responsibilities
Identify, recruit and tour clinical agency student placement sites.
Supervise and evaluate faculty providing clinical instruction.
Visit clinical sites while instructors are working and evaluate instructors and sites.
Responsible for maintaining documents and files for ACEN and OBN reports regarding
clinical practice including assessment of student learning outcomes.
Collaborate with agency staff as well as Hocking College administration and faculty to
maintain currency in all contractual agreements.
Attend required meetings at clinical affiliation agencies.
Schedule and notify students and clinical faculty regarding the clinical orientation for
each student group each semester.
Prepare orientation documents for students and clinical instructors.

Maintain clinical clearance records on students and clinical faculty including CPR
verification, immunizations, physicals, background checks, and drug screens.
Reviews and tracks student files for completeness and compliance with Ohio Board of
Nursing and clinical agency requirements.
Coordinate the gathering of agency specific documentation necessary for student
placement into clinical agencies.
Manage clinical sites and other external instructional facilities.
Provide information to students to ensure compliance with clinical facility and program
policies.
Ensure student and academic program progression according to nursing and student
handbook policies.
Advise students, this position supports approximately 15 nursing students.
Administer each semester a student satisfaction survey providing results to the Director
of Nursing or Dean.
Assist the Director of Nursing in compilation of required materials for accreditation.
Assign clinical placements specific to curricular requirements.
Maintain compliance with clinical facilities requirements.
Ensure student and program progress for the nursing program.
Advise and monitor the progression of matriculated students.
Contribute to the overall success of the Department of Nursing.
Act as liaison with hospital and academic partners as directed by the Director of Nursing.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Maintain all clinical contracts.
Maintain confidentiality of all student records.
Collaborate with the Simulation Lab Manager to provide seamless transitions from
simulation to live clinical experiences.
To be trained in operation of the Simulation Lab.
Oversee the functioning and scheduling of all Basic Nursing Skills Labs and assist in the
High-Fidelity Simulation Nursing Lab.
Collaborate with faculty to provide for consistent and relevant student learning
experiences to meet course and clinical objectives in the nursing skills labs.
Assist faculty with skills and simulation activities and in establishing and revising the
critical elements for performing clinical skills.
Ensure supervision of students in the lab, maintaining safe practices and abiding by all
established policies and procedures for the lab.
Contribute to the evaluation of students during skills and simulation activities as well as
on other occasions by request i.e. exit prescription skills performance practice and
review.
Provide assistance to students upon faculty referral for remediation.
Maintain a policies and procedures manual for the labs and Clinical.
May be assigned to a clinical if needed.
Other duties as required by the appropriate administrator.
III. Qualifications - Education, Experience, and Skills
BSN degree required with support for MSN completion. MSN preferred.
5 years of direct patient nursing experience.
Two years of experience in progressively responsible administrative support in an
academic office environment preferred.
Hocking College -Lab and Clinical Coordinator, Nursing Programs
Two years of experience in the development and maintenance of affiliation/contracts/
agreements preferred.
Coordinated the development and maintenance of affiliation agreements with health care
facilities.
Obtained and tracked required information for clinical requirements for Practical and
Registered nursing students.
Oversee program progression for all students and ability to anticipate future clinical
needs throughout the program.
Supervise all clinical site faculty and perform annual reviews and documentation
compliance.
Utilize databases to monitor student placements and preceptor information.
Coordinate the clinical needs of students and plan placements accordingly.
Maintain correspondence of large numbers of students, preceptors, and clinical faculty.
Strong Microsoft office skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Time management and organizational skills.
Manage multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external clinical partners.
Ability to act in confidence.
Knowledge of FERPA and HIPAA.
