Job Description:
Under regular supervision, and according to established procedures, performs a varietyof routine laboratory support procedures including order entry, specimen/material pickup, transportation, tracking, receipt, and processing. May utilize a variety of informationsystems to perform tasks. Operates and maintains pre and post analytic laboratoryequipment which may include laboratory automation. May perform occasionalphlebotomy service if required at that site. Interacts with patients, laboratory staff andcaregivers in a courteous and professional manner. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Prepares patient specimens for laboratory testing with particular emphasis on preanalytic and post-analytic processes 2. Accurately enters patient demographic, insurance, and test order information intovariety of computer information systems according to standard protocols in a timelymanner.
