As an automation engineer, you will be an essential part of an interdisciplinary team of highly creative and talented individuals responsible for designing, maintain and implement lab instrumentation, workstations and integrated robotic systems that support various discovery activities within the Assays & HTS team.Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the design, establishment, and application of automation processes for in vitro cell-based assays including ancillary activities that enable drug discovery, target validation and sample logistics to enable our internal drug discovery processes
  • Manage robotic arm enabled instruments, workstation-based systems (e.g., Beckman Biomek/i7, or similar), integrated systems (e.g., HighRes Biosolutions, Celltrio, Biosero) for high throughput screening and sample management including working with IT colleagues for LIMS integrations
  • Create, modify, and troubleshoot robotics/automation scripts
  • Identify and proactively troubleshoot technical issues, implement solutions under limited supervision
  • Provide hands-on training to end-users across an array of various liquid handling platforms
  • Maintain and support safe lab practices and environment including quality control of instrumentation performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related discipline with 3 or more years of lab automation experience
  • Working knowledge of robotic systems, automated liquid handlers, and multimodal lab instruments
  • Familiarity with assays and their workflows using automated liquid handlers and robotic systems
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently troubleshoot automated systems and quickly adapt to evolving technology and assay methodology
  • Excellent organizational and verbal/written communication skills
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment with a sense of urgency and creativity and focus on deliverables.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic, able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Continuously learns and adapts quickly to new information
