Job Description:Job SummaryResponsible for performance in a timely manner of all technical and administrative aspects of the assigned laboratory section. Maintains laboratory services in accordance with standards established by the Baptist Health Systems, College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission, and Federal, State and local regulatory agencies.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.1. Assists in the preparation and review of position descriptions and standards for all employees at least annually.2. Provides orientation of new employees in a timely manner and documents this orientation and approval to perform assigned tasks.3. Provides remedial training for current employees as required and documents this training.4. Provides Continuing Education opportunities and documents such.5. Coaches, counsels and disciplines employees as needed.6. Provides performance reviews in a timely manner annually.7. Maintains up to date and accurate procedure manuals according to regulatory standards8. Develops and maintains quality control procedures for all testing to ensure compliance with the standards of all applicable regulatory agencies,9. Performs required studies and provides required documentation for all new procedures according to policy. Obtains Medical Director and Lab Administrative Director approval prior to initiating new procedure.10. Maintains adequate inventory levels with no out-dating of supplies or shortages that may lead to unnecessary delays in the performance of patient testing.Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:1. Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least three years of experience; or2. Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical technology with at least four years of experience.3.
