- Assists nursing students with laboratory skills during scheduled lab sessions and open lab times. The teaching expectation is 6 sections per each of the 3 terms. Provide clinical section coverage if not at full load.
- Effectively evaluates student practice based on course rubrics and guidelines.
- Works collaboratively with didactic course faculty to develop active learning experiences to meet the objectives for the assigned laboratory courses.
- Maintains current knowledge of the Nursing curriculum, policies, and requirements.
- Maintains clinical competence and knowledge in area of expertise.
- Prepares laboratory for lab instruction and maintains laboratory facilities following use.
- Collaborates with nursing didactic faculty and Director of Academic Operations pertaining to laboratory needs.
- Manages and orders supplies for use according to number of students and faculty. Maintains ample and updated supplies and equipment in accordance with approved budget.
- Repairs and cleans equipment to maintain good working order. Cleans and performs routine maintenance on equipment. Collaborates with Director of Academic Operations on repair needs.
- Maintains biohazard materials including bloodborne pathogens and sharps disposal in accordance with policy to ensure public safety.
- Maintains inventory. Organizes and labels supply cabinets. Identifies supply needs and ensures availability for students.
- Counsels students on priorities and other matters to provide direction, and directs students to didactic instructors, success coaches or other appropriate persons for information or intervention.
- Maintains confidentiality of student records and other information.
- Participates in clinical orientation immersions as assigned.
- Completes recommended training regarding simulation and nursing education/stays current with simulation recommendations.
- Proctors exams as scheduled.
- Attend scheduled meetings with course faculty, program meetings, workgroup meetings, etc.
- Participate and engage in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs, including but not limited to serving on DEI committees, serving as a diversity advocate or community liaison for a job search, advising a club, facilitating DEI-related training, and engagement in institutional cultural and celebratory events and programming.
Driving ResponsibilitiesTravelSupervisesEducation & Experience Qualifications Master's Degree in Science of Nursing or current enrollment in a Master's degree program with at least 3 years of experience in an acute care setting. Experience in nursing education preferred. Simulation experience preferred.Minimum Skills/Abilities
- An ability to develop, support and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, students, and adjunct clinical faculty.
- Experience working in a simulation environment with high and low fidelity mannequins a plus.
- Ability to provide a supportive learning environment for students.
- Confidence with AV equipment, learning management platforms and student database systems.
