The department of Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) at Towson University is accepting applications for a Lab IT Coordinator. This position is responsible for the administration and technical support of lab instructional facilities, teaching desktop labs, classroom technology, and additional responsibilities such as MAG card access and room scheduling. The Lab IT Coordinator will assist the technical IT staff in supporting desktop and application deployment technologies and provide help with instructional technologies used by faculty and students in the Mathematics, CS, IS, and IT programs. The Lab IT Coordinator will need to stay current with industry practices, technologies, and services.
Responsibilities and Duties The IT Coordinator is responsible for the administration and technical support of Microsoft Windows systems, MacOS, classroom technologies, and services, including:
- Planning, implementation, and testing of academic lab production-level hardware and software systems.
- Maintenance of deployment processes for applications in desktop labs and virtual environments.
- Reporting and resolution of technical problems.
- Providing help with instructional technologies for faculty and students.
- Maintaining security best practices.
- Operations support and tracking for classroom technology resources and supplies.
- Development of documentation for systems and end-user services.
- Administering MAG card access to faculty, staff, and adjuncts throughout the department.
- Room scheduling and responding to room event requests through the usage of 25Live.
- Assist with the completion and review of the Final Exam schedule each semester.
- Act as the building coordinator for relaying building-wide information to 7800 Residents.
- Lab checks and maintenance, including wiring and monitor installation.
Telework may be available for this position up to two days per week following the completion of 90 days of service in good standing.
Qualifications and Skills - Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
- Three years of experience in systems administration, desktop support, or a related field.
- Must demonstrate proficiency with Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating systems.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of computing environments, scripting languages, system management, security, and virtual services.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment, communicate technical information, and possess interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
