Job DescriptionWhat We Are Looking ForThe Lab Manager at the EvoGenOMICS team will support the efforts of the Giassetti lab in the College of Arts & Sciences Department of Biology. We seek a senior laboratory technician to assist with studies on understanding a phylogenetic multi-omics core of fertility and its association with developmental biology in the next generation and gene edition in animals.Learn more about the Giassetti Lab at our webpage: A Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Animal Sciences, or a related field, and five years of relevant work experience are required. A Master's degree is preferred. Flexibility is required for occasional late-night, early-morning, and weekend coverage.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong organization skills
  • Solid and transparent written and verbal communication skills
  • Maintains the highest professional standards while working with confidential information, students, and partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and Zoom
  • lab experience managing research groups
  • mice housing and husbandry and manipulation, sterile techniques, cell culture, and microscopy
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.What You Will Do
  • Responsible for lab safety regulatory compliance and general lab maintenance, including but not restricted to responsibilities of managing the laboratory, students, animal housing, and husbandry activities
  • Performing, maintaining, and monitoring lab activities, animal colony & experiments
  • Perform primary and long-term cell cultures of animal samples
  • Establish new protocol standardization
  • Organize sample inventory for long-term storage
  • Run experiments on the effect of manipulating genes in diverse cell culture growth conditions and generation of gene-edited animals
  • General lab maintenance, organization, and records
  • General equipment checking, maintenance, and records
  • Assistant with order, receipt, inspection, and proper storage of material.
  • Assistant with drafting and editing manuscripts and proposals.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
