What You Will Do:
Air Distribution Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Lab Manager. The Lab Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate daily operations for our R&D development group. This person will work closely with our Product Managers, Sales, Lab, and Engineering teams in the development of new product designs, VAs, and enhancements setting process standards for continuous improvements, while interfacing with all supporting departments/customers. The Lab Manager will promote and ensure the Lab has a healthy working atmosphere, effective communications, technical guidance, sound engineering principles, effective use of facilities, and maintain organizational standards.
How You Will Do It:
- Promote/Sustain Business Accreditation requirements by working with all supporting teams
- Review sales and design plans to understand the scope of work and customer needs
- Determine design feasibility and specifications with a predictable schedule
- Oversee FEA, CFD, and design calculations to ensure the product meets the specified requirements
- Develop trial builds, validate quality control methods, and develop witness testing requirements
- Seek new product opportunities through networking, technical committees, articles, external sources, business periodicals, professional journals, and/or governmental regulations.
- Hire, train, and manage the performance of deliverables for NPI, Enhancements, VA, and Sustainment
- Develop, evaluate, and improve design methods utilizing knowledge of existing products, materials, common parts, tooling, production capabilities, and assembly methods
- Collaborate with supporting departments regarding technical issues, arranging for the purchase of tooling, materials, and part evaluations according to specifications and quality standards.
- Estimate design turnaround times, staffing requirements, and related accreditation costs to provide information for management decisions.
- Responsible for ensuring that project timelines, budgets, written procedures, and reports are completed and communicated on time following the RCLP program.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
- Lead monthly high-level reports out to the business
What We Look For:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in structural design or equivalent degree preferred.
- With a degree 5 years of experience in a development environment with progressive managerial experience.
- In lieu of degree, 8 years of HVAC lab experience.
- Experience in leading complex product designs into mass production
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret prints, with expected product code conditions
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, good written/oral communication skills, flexibility, and adaptability to changing situations.
- Able to apply fundamental engineering theories, mathematics, mechanics, and physical science concepts to the job.
- Knowledge of building codes (AMCA, UL, etc…), Inventor CAD, Mathcad, and RISA is preferred.
