- Weigh patients and ensure proper labeling of collected samples.
- Ensure knowledge of collection tubes and proper labeling of collected samples.- Run CBCs (Complete Blood Counts) to ensure timely patient treatment.
- Perform venipuncture, urine dipsticks, stool testing, and run tests for Strep, Flu, COVID, and RSV.
- Make blood smears upon provider request and assist in troubleshooting any issues.
- Ensure accurate quality control procedures are followed prior to patient testing.
- Operate centrifuges and perform maintenance as required.
- Pour plasma/serum into transfer tubes, and prepare specimens for various conditions (room temperature, frozen, refrigerated, warm, light-sensitive).
- Handle specimens according to established protocols for in-house and send-out testing.
- Operate CBC analyzers (XN430/50, XS1000i/c, Poch 100i) and document daily startup and shutdown.
- Run, monitor, and troubleshoot quality controls and report any critical values to providers.
- Perform and document all routine maintenance, including monthly rinses
- Identify and process orders efficiently in LIS (Laboratory Information System) and EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems.
- Perform glucose monitoring, fecal occult blood tests, PT/INR tests, and urine pregnancy tests (OSOM).
- Operate and maintain the Siemens Clinitek Status Urinalysis Analyzer.
- Log into Labdaq, maintain requisitions, and create and adjust patient profiles.
- Enter rapid order test codes, verify CBCs, and rerun critical results, documenting accordingly.
- Ensure that orders are properly sent to reference labs, such as Labcorp and Quest.
We require:
- Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma.
- At least 1 year of experience.
- Reliable transportation.
- Bilingual, English/Spanish preferred
- Experience with phlebotomy and laboratory procedures.
- Proficient in LIS/EMR systems, including LABDAQ.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Adaptability to changes in responsibilities and office environments.
