Job Description:
Position Summary The Lab Pack Supervisor is responsible for supervision and completion of technical field Team Members and their work and assisting Account Managers. Projects can involve complex situations such as sorting a variety of wastes for transportation and disposal, sampling wastes, assisting with the determination of waste disposal options or preparing work quotations. The role is split about 50% office work (pricing jobs, identification of disposal options for wastes based on analysis, Safety Data Sheets, and other information, preparing waste profiles and paperwork) and 50% field work (visiting customers, assisting with job planning, and sampling, sorting, packaging, and labeling chemicals). Job responsibilities:
  • Prepare waste profiles, manifests, and related paperwork. Determine proper RCRA waste codes and DOT shipping descriptions based on field testing, labels, waste analysis, SDS's, and client information.
  • Determine time and resources required for jobs, write up job requirements and safety aspects for field Team Members, and request to schedule them with dispatch.
  • Identify and categorize chemicals based on their chemical nature to determine proper disposal methods. Carefully read and understand RCRA and DOT regulations to determine the status of various wastes and materials, including relevant exemptions related to shipping and disposal.
  • Daily communication with other Team Members, disposal facility personnel, and Customers.
  • Collaborate and work closely with Account Managers and site operations to respond and fulfill customer requests, assist with site visits and inventorying materials for quoting and profiling.
  • Work with various disposal sites to get pricing for waste disposal. Creatively explore a variety of disposal sites and methodologies, based on the physical and chemical attributes of the waste, to achieve the disposal solution that fits the client's needs.
  • Work at customer sites and make decisions to ensure the job is completed efficiently and safely.
  • Create invoicing spreadsheets for submittal to billing department.
  • Assist in building the organization's lab-pack & drum management business including hiring field chemist positions.
Basic Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Must have a basic understanding of chemistry and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in the hazardous waste industry, especially with regards to preparing waste profiles and manifests.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills and ability to work in fast paced work environment where priorities and workloads are continuously changing.
  • Extremely detail-oriented, able to keep multiple on-going projects organized, and adept at providing regular updates to customers and co-workers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication.
  • Must be technologically skilled including Outlook email, Excel , and financial/timekeeping systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Science Related Field (Environmental Science/Chemistry/Biology).
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable environmental laws and regulations (i.e., CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, OSHA)
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Certification
  • 8-hour OSHA HAZWOPER Supervisor Training
