DEQ has an open opportunity for a Lab Safety Lead and Training Coordinator.

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

The position will be responsible for administering a comprehensive laboratory safety program across DEQ. The position will assist with laboratory operations and chemical management while providing guidance with proper PPE selection. The position will also act as a training coordinator by identifying the training needs across DEQ and either providing the training or arranging appropriate training by an outside vendor.

Key Responsibilities:

* Administer a comprehensive laboratory safety program for the Department of Environmental Quality.

* Assist with laboratory operations and chemical management.

* Provide PPE selection guidance.

* Conduct safety training on various topics for DEQ staff.

Recruitment Range: $56,906.00 - $70,940.00

To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

* Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory safety regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

* Demonstrated experience conducting laboratory safety training.

* Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office.

Bachelor's degree with a major in safety engineering, industrial engineering, industrial management or technology, occupational safety, or one of the physical sciences or an equivalent technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and a minimum of three years of progressive occupational and safety and health experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
