Lab Technician - Job Opportunity Location: South Bend, IndinanaJob Title: Laboratory TechnicianJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team, supporting R&D and quality assurance for our adhesives manufacturing operations. This role involves working with a variety of adhesive products, including solvent and water-based adhesives, sealants, and aerosol adhesives, primarily for the roofing, RV, and trailer industries. The Laboratory Technician will report directly to the Manager of R&D.Responsibilities
  • Assist R&D Chemists in new product development and characterization, including preparing samples for customer evaluations.
  • Understand and operate R&D lab equipment, ensuring accurate and efficient sample preparation.
  • Clean and maintain lab equipment and the overall lab environment to ensure a safe and organized workspace.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and ensure timely replenishment to support ongoing R&D activities.
  • Utilize basic computer skills, including Excel and Microsoft Word, to record and analyze data.
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods during lab work.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in chemistry or related fields is a plus.
  • Strong math skills and a basic understanding of chemistry principles.
  • 2+ years of GMP Quality/Lab experience in adhesives, plastics/polymers, or specialty chemical manufacturing.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and Word for data entry and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Attention to detail in following procedures and documenting results.
  • Collaborative team player able to work effectively with R&D chemists and other team members.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues with lab equipment and processes.
Work EnvironmentThe position operates on the 1st shift, Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm. The laboratory is a climate-controlled R&D environment supporting manufacturing quality and new product development. Occasionally, there may be a need to retrieve samples from production or the warehouse as needed.
