Description Overall Responsibility Conducts routine laboratory QC sample tests on raw materials and finished products. Performs other laboratory analyses as directed by and under the supervision of the Senior Chemist. Ensures quality control of new and existing products, prepares, submits, and maintains reports and records of all sample tests. Key Responsibilities Operates laboratory equipment and instrumentation safely and in accordance with standard test methods and operating procedures. Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple instruments and workflows simultaneously to maximize efficiency. Works safely with hydrocarbon and/or water-based products and potentially hazardous chemicals in a controlled laboratory setting. Maintains and documents laboratory records and results in compliance with the ISO quality management system. Maintains a clean and safe laboratory environment. Assists with instrument maintenance, calibration, and referencing as needed. Communicates test results to blending and manufacturing staff and makes formula modification recommendations when appropriate and in consultation with the Senior Chemist. Updates job knowledge by participating in training and education opportunities as available. Provides regular reports to the Laboratory and Plant Management. Provides analysis of laboratory results to support improved product development or quality. Requirements Applicants are required to have high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must have proficiency using a computer and basic knowledge of MS Office Software. Applicants must have proficiency with basic arithmetic, algebra, fractions, and proportions. Applicants must be able to read and write in the English language. Applicants must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. Applicants must be able to stand for extended periods of time as necessary to complete job duties. What will Set you apart 2-3 years prior experience in a QC laboratory with equipment such as Densitometers, FTIR, ICP, GC, pH, and Viscometers. Experience or course work in chemistry including associated laboratory courses Experience in the petrochemical or lubrication industries Experience with hazardous waste / hazardous materials handling and emergency response J-18808-Ljbffr
