BASIC FUNCTIONS:The purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, timely and efficient maintenance and upkeep of all departmental laboratories; to set up student labs as instructed and to assist during the conduct of the labs; and to provide assistance, including administrative assistance, to the Manager and Chairman of the department.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:Involves no responsibility or authority for the direction of others.
NATURE AND SCOPE:Internal contacts include administrators, faculty, staff and students of the College and University at large. External contacts include vendors, contractors, and visitors (such as visiting scientists or interviewees).
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:- Order necessary supplies, chemicals, equipment and other materials for laboratory instruction as required.
- Ensure that student lockers in laboratories are ready for use at the beginning of the semester and in good condition at the end of the semester.
- Order and store supplies for faculty in the research lab, and collect teaching materials and prepare visual displays.
- Order general supplies (such as office supplies) and annual warranties needed in the department and for researchers.
- Assure that the laboratory and equipment are in a clean, safe and well-maintained state.
- Report malfunctions and problems with utilities (water, steam, gas, air and electricity) to Physical Facilities Maintenance; prepare work requests as needed; assure completion through follow-ups.
- Prepare requisitions for glassware, chemicals, supplies, drugs, equipment and other materials needed in the department; maintain appropriate records.
- Receive and inspect all materials ordered by the Department, for accuracy; maintain laboratory supplies, chemicals, and record inventory.
- Assist with administrative work related to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, as instructed by the department chair and under the supervision of the chair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma or GED and 1-1.5 years relevant experience. Vocational or other technical school, training or apprenticeship beyond HS may be substituted for work experience.
