About the Opportunity:
We currently seek an experienced Labor and Employment Associate General Counsel to serve our healthcare clients. Prior employment and labor law experience is necessary; however, ESI places a very high value on intelligence, drive and willingness to learn and grow, making this an excellent opportunity for the up-and-comer who is willing to work hard to become an indispensable member of our team.
As Associate General Counsel, you will join our outstanding legal/risk/regulatory team and serve as a front-line resource for our facility clients relating to all aspects of employment law.
Responsibilities:
- Legal Counsel: Provide legal advice on employment law issues, including but not limited to employee relations, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour laws.
- Collaboration: Work with HR, management, and external legal counsel to address complex employment issues and support company initiatives.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess potential legal risks related to employment practices and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
- Training: Develop and deliver training programs for employees and managers on employment law topics, including labor management relations, anti-harassment, discrimination, and workplace behavior.
- Policy Development: Collaborate with HR to develop, review, and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures to ensure they are legally compliant and aligned with company goals.
- Compliance: Help to ensure company policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Stay current on changes in employment law and advise on necessary updates to policies and procedures.
- Dispute Resolution and Litigation Management: Manage and resolve employment-related disputes, including conducting investigations and representing the company and/or our clients in employment-related litigation or administrative (e.g., EEOC or OSHA) proceedings. Will also manage external employment litigation counsel.
- Labor-Management Relations: Provide education and support as needed with managing grievances, negotiating and managing a Collective Bargaining Agreement, union avoidance strategies, and other such traditional labor law matters.
Professional Qualifications: - Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensing: Active license to practice law and status of good standing in/with the State Bar where licensed .
- Experience: Five to ten years' experience in labor and employment law. Skills: Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations, traditional labor law and the National Labor Relations Act, single plaintiff and class action litigation, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.

Additional Information: This full-time, exempt position will be based at one of our Service Centers in California, Arizona, Texas or Utah. We will also consider a remote or partially remote working arrangement.
We are committed to providing a competitive benefits and compensation package which includes a salary range of between 170k - 210K (DOE) and may be eligible for bonus, medical/dental/vision coverage, company-provided life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and sick/vacation plans.
