Summary:

The Labor Compliance Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all construction projects comply with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, including wage and hour laws, prevailing wage requirements, and other labor-related regulations. This role involves monitoring compliance, coordinating with subcontractors, and maintaining detailed records to ensure that the company adheres to all legal and contractual obligations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of labor laws, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple compliance tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities:

  • Labor Law Compliance: Ensure that all construction projects comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, including prevailing wage requirements, wage and hour laws, and other labor-related regulations.
  • Documentation Management: Collect, review, and maintain all necessary documentation related to labor compliance, including certified payroll reports, wage determinations, and employee records.
  • Subcontractor Coordination: Work closely with subcontractors to ensure their compliance with labor laws and regulations, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Audits and Inspections: Prepare for and assist with audits and inspections by regulatory agencies, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Reporting: Generate and submit required reports to regulatory agencies, clients, and internal stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve any labor compliance issues that arise during the course of a project, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Training and Education: Provide training and support to project teams and subcontractors on labor compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all labor compliance activities, ensuring that documentation is easily accessible and compliant with retention policies.
  • Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of labor compliance policies and procedures, ensuring that the company remains in compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay current with changes in labor laws and regulations, identifying opportunities to improve compliance processes and reduce risk.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 of experience in labor compliance, preferably within the construction industry. Experience with general contractors and public works projects is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and familiar with compliance tracking software. Knowledge of prevailing wage laws and certified payroll reporting is required.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations, with a focus on compliance in the construction industry.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to review and manage large volumes of documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with subcontractors, project teams, regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve labor compliance issues quickly and effectively.
  • Time Management: Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Teamwork: A collaborative approach with the ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to the success of the project and the company.
