Job Description:

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled attorney for a role focused primarily on traditional labor relations, representing employers while also providing legal advice on federal and California workplace laws. This role may occasionally involve due diligence related to workplace law issues during mergers and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

Traditional Labor Relations:

  • The Traditional Labor Law Associate must manage unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
  • Conduct research and draft legal documents.
  • Represent management during NLRB elections.
  • Offer legal counsel on union organizing, corporate campaigns, card check, and neutrality agreements.
  • Traditional Labor Law Associate will negotiate and advise on collective bargaining agreements.
  • Handle grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings.
  • Seek injunctions against mass picketing.

Workplace Law Compliance:

  • Advise employers on federal and California wage and hour regulations, leave management, disability accommodations, and other workplace concerns.
  • Traditional Labor Law Associate will review employee handbooks, policies, and forms to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Evaluate compensation, commission, and bonus plans.
  • Conduct management training on labor relations, federal and California workplace issues, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.

Qualifications:

  • Traditional Labor Law Associate must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must have 4-6 years of experience in litigation or have worked as an attorney.
  • Experience in traditional labor relations with federal and California advice and counsel work.
  • Must have admission to the California Bar.
  • Traditional Labor Law Associate must have familiarity with current enforcement techniques from state and federal agencies is preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Traditional Labor Law Associate must have excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to undertake regular business travel as needed.
