We have an in-depth, self-paced training program to establish the technician's role into a productive career in Metrology, Instrumentation, and Quality. This training consists of hands-on On-The-Job training with a qualified technician to learn calibrations. We have several technicians on staff who were hired with little or no previous calibration experience who have become successful in the Metrology field after completing their training. Each candidate's training progression is monitored by supervisors and Lab Managers for goals, accomplishments and timely progress. - Must have a valid driver's license
- Ability to read and follow instructions and directions
- Proficient with Windows, Microsoft Office, and Internet applications with an emphasis on Excel
- Proficient math skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent organizational skills
- Capable of lifting (50 pounds) unassisted
- Candidate MUST be willing to travel to local and regional on-site locations which usually extends to over-time
Education
- High School Diploma
- Military service in technical fields highly regarded
Responsibilities
- Participate in and complete all assigned training courses
- Perform routine calibrations in our laboratory and at our customer's facilities in accordance with calibration procedures to meet the needs of the customer
- Promptly addresses customer requests, inquiries and complaints taking actions as appropriate to satisfy the customer or resolve the issue
- Continually pursue technical proficiency, calibration skills through various means such as self-study and internal training programs and proficiency testing
- Maintain an exemplary laboratory cleanliness through daily routine cleaning of lab spaces and work stations
Physical Demands
- Ability to communicate orally with customers, vendors, management, and coworkers is crucial. Regular use of phone and email for communication is essential. Hearing and vision correctable to within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations, receiving ordinary information, and preparing or inspecting documents and calibration activities.
- The ability to remain in a stationary position roughly 50% of the time, as well as the ability to move about the laboratory and customer spaces as required.
- Using a computer or calibrating while sitting or standing for extended periods is common. Must also be able to position self to calibrate equipment, including some harsh environments at customer facilities which may include heat, cold, noise-levels, etc. Some onsite facilities may require personal safety equipment such as earplugs, steel-toe boots, splash aprons, safety eyewear, and respirators.
- Continuous heavy lifting is not expected, however onsite service requires loading and unloading of calibration equipment though occasional exertion of about up to 70 lbs. of force (e.g., picking up and carrying calibration standards) may be required.
- Onsite activities do sometimes require extensive drive times.
- Some occasional overnight jobs may be required.
Reports ToThe Calibration Technicians report directly to the the applicable Metrology Supervisor (Thermodynamics, Electronics, Physical/Mechanical, Dimensional).Application Process
