Position Summary
The primary responsibility of the laboratory assistant as directed by the instructor is to facilitate student learning in the laboratory setting. The Laboratory Assistant will work under the direction of one or more instructors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Provide individualized student assistance during laboratory activities. This assistance may include a variety of approaches such as answering questions, demonstrating proper procedures and techniques, or identifying and explaining errors under the direction of the instructor.
* Conduct laboratory demonstrations for student groups or individuals as assigned by the instructor.
* Oversee student live work activities as assigned by the instructor.
* Set up classroom and event demonstrations as assigned by the instructor.
* Develop detailed cleaning schedule and maintain laboratory equipment and performing routine housekeeping.
* Set up events as needed.
* Receive and stock inventory. Ensure that FIFO is practiced.
* Ensure that all food items are stored, labeled and dated appropriately.
* Duplicate and distribute handouts and instructional materials as assigned by the instructor.
* Maintain student work schedules and document student work activities and performance as assigned by the instructor or Division Chairperson.
* Participation in off campus events.
* Maintain and demonstrate acceptable safety and sanitation standards.
* Professional appearance and hygiene - maintaining uniform standards throughout the department.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Chair, Dean CTE, and/or President.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution with a certification in the training field.
* Two (2) years of related experience.
* ServSafe certified (or must be obtained within 6 months).
