Job Schedule: Part Time Standard Hours: 24 Job Shift: Shift 1 Shift Details: Laboratory assistant duties to include coverage of Lead laboratory duties as needed.

Position Summary:

Responsible for performing processing of specimens and clerical activities. Verifies specimen integrity and patient demographics. Prepares samples for testing by established procedures and techniques. Performs laboratory specimen preparation and processing for the following departments: Cytology, Anatomic Pathology, and/or Microbiology. Assists in the support functions of the departments including, but not limited to, data entry, filing, reagent handling and preparation, slide preparation, and planting of cultures. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment. May assist other departments and perform other functions as required. Phlebotomy as required.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience as a phlebotomist.
  • 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal, written and listening) skills and good leadership abilities.
  • Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements by following established procedures in order to maintain a safe laboratory environment and to meet accreditation standards.
  • Ability to be flexible as required to adapt to laboratory needs as related to testing and scheduling.
