Position Summary
Under supervision, performs various laboratory and administrative activities in support of technicians and investigators conducting experiments
Job Responsibilities
* Responsible for autoclave services, washing and sterilization of lab glassware and equipment.
* Assists with the preparation of solutions, as needed and under direction.
* Responsible for sharps and waste disposal.
* Observes established safety measures and notifies appropriate staff of any maintenance or safety issues. Documents environmental controls.
* Under close supervision, may assist with experimental procedures, which may include work with animals.
* Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment and/or reagents. May order supplies/equipment/reagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.
* Receives, stores and distributes incoming supplies, including distributing packages to each individual lab, as needed. Stocks general supplies and may be responsible for the coordination of lab coat cleaning.
* Assists with the coordination, set-up and or close-outs of labs where needed.
* May assist with data collection and maintenance.
* May assist with specimen collection, storage, shipment and transport.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
* High school diploma or GED
Experience
Prior experience working in a research setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* If required to draw blood, phlebotomy certification is required prior to performing task.
